GEORGE TOWN, October 6 — Penang FC reignited their home spirit with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Negeri Sembilan FC in the Super League clash at City Stadium last night. The home side, led by head coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail, delivered an inspired performance, with Tchetche Kipre striking twice in the 13th and 49th minutes to secure the win before a roaring local crowd.
Despite an own goal by Penang’s Faith Obilor deep into injury time, the Harimau Kumbang held firm to claim all three points. Wan Rohaimi praised his squad’s determination, saying the victory reflected the team’s growing cohesion and belief. Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan FC’s coach, Nidzam Jamil, admitted his side struggled with preparation, injuries, and mental focus after conceding early.
“We started decently but lost our rhythm after the first goal. It was more of a mentality issue,” he said. The result lifts Penang FC’s momentum in front of their home fans and reinforces their reputation as a team capable of challenging stronger opponents in the league.
