KUALA LUMPUR, October 10 — The government has announced that the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 4 payment, originally scheduled for November, will be brought forward to October 18 in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the payment, worth RM2 billion, is part of the RM13 billion allocated this year under the STR and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programmes, benefiting nearly nine million recipients nationwide.
In addition, the government has approved a 50% toll discount for two days during the Deepavali festive period to ease the financial burden on Malaysians travelling for the celebration.
Earlier this year, the government had already disbursed three phases of STR payments, amounting to RM6 billion, as part of ongoing efforts to support households facing rising living costs.
