BUTTERWORTH, October 10 — The man found brutally murdered and stuffed inside a suitcase near the Ampang Jajar has been identified as 31-year-old insurance agent and digital creator Lee Boon Han, also known as DanielHan Lee.
His father confirmed the identification this morning at the Seberang Jaya Hospital mortuary, following an overnight autopsy that extended past midnight. Lee, who had been missing since October 8 after a message was sent from his phone to his mother claiming he was heading to Perlis, was last seen wearing a grey shirt and black pants while driving a silver Toyota Vios (PPP3135).
However, his family suspects that the message may not have been sent by him, as he had been completely uncontactable since noon that day. Lee’s father and friends had gone to the hospital last night to request an autopsy but were unable to complete the identification as the post-mortem was still in progress.
The body was formally identified this morning, with Lee’s father confirming through tears that the victim was indeed his son. Family members and colleagues present at the mortuary were seen comforting his father, who declined to speak to the media following the heartbreaking confirmation.
The gruesome discovery was made around 1.43pm yesterday, October 9, when a cleaner found a suspicious suitcase behind the Ampang Jajar flats and alerted the authorities. Forensic investigations revealed that the victim’s throat had been slit, his hands bound, and a plastic bag placed over his head.
Police are investigating the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, and believe the victim may have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped in Butterworth.
