KUALA LUMPUR, October 10 – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has expressed the state’s gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the numerous projects and initiatives announced for Penang under Budget 2026.
Among the approved projects are key infrastructure developments such as the expansion of the PLUS Highway from Juru to Sungai Dua, the construction of the Mount Erskine Underpass to ease traffic congestion, the upgrading of the Bertam Sports Complex, and enhancements to water supply systems in Titi Kerawang and Teluk Bahang.
Chow added that nearly half of the state’s proposed priority projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) have been included in the federal budget. He urged the federal government to provide detailed implementation timelines to ensure smooth coordination with the state government.
He also welcomed the federal initiatives to strengthen flood mitigation efforts, improve healthcare and education facilities, and boost digital governance through GovTech Malaysia, all of which are expected to enhance Penang’s infrastructure, public services, and economic resilience.
