KUALA LUMPUR, October 11 — YTL Communications, through its service brand Yes, has become the first telco in Malaysia to commercially launch 5G Advanced, marking a historic leap in the nation’s digital evolution.

The rollout, already live across the Klang Valley and set for nationwide completion by December 2025, introduces deeper and broader 5G coverage, faster network performance, and next-generation AI-ready connectivity for both consumers and enterprises.

Unveiled during the Yes Presents: The Future First Tech-Talk event, Yes 5G Advanced showcases breakthrough features such as advanced network slicing with Quality-of-Service prioritisation — a “VIP lane” for data that ensures seamless connectivity and ultra-low latency.

Built on Ericsson technology and supported by Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), the upgraded network integrates both 700MHz and 3.5GHz spectrums to deliver stronger indoor coverage and consistent outdoor performance.

With the launch, Malaysia joins an elite group as the ninth country in the world to deploy 5G Advanced commercially. All existing Yes 5G Postpaid and Wireless Broadband customers are automatically upgraded to 5G Advanced at no extra cost, requiring only a compatible 5G device.

“This is more than a network upgrade; it’s a game-changer,” said YTL Communications CEO Wing K. Lee. “It’s the foundation for an uncapped, inclusive, and AI-ready society that Malaysians deserve.”
