GEORGE TOWN, October 16 — The George Town Literary Festival (GTLF) returns from November 28–30, 2025, celebrating its 15th anniversary with the theme “Urban Myths and Memories,” reflecting on how stories and imagination shape city life.

Featuring 37 writers and artists from 13 countries—including Madeleine Thien, Helen Mort, Ahmed Masoud, Tash Aw, and Bernice Chauly—the festival will host panels, performances, and workshops across George Town’s historic venues.

Festival Director Dato’ Dr Ooi Kee Beng said this year’s edition “looks both backward and forward,” honouring Penang’s layered history and its storytellers. Supported by partners such as CloudJoi, Greatech Technology, HSBC Malaysia, and international embassies.

GTLF 2025 promises a rich programme of literature, performance, and cultural dialogue that reaffirms Penang’s place on the global literary map.
