KUALA LUMPUR, October 17 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed that he personally pays the full RM2.60 per litre for RON95 petrol despite qualifying for the RM1.99 subsidy under the Budi95 programme, underscoring his commitment to targeted subsidies.
Speaking at the Finance Ministry’s monthly assembly, Anwar said the move reflects the government’s principle of ensuring aid reaches those truly in need, while strengthening fiscal responsibility.
He highlighted that past reforms in electricity and food subsidies have helped save public funds without burdening the rakyat, adding that targeted measures are key to building a fairer and more sustainable economy.
