GEORGE TOWN, October 27 — Global optical communications leader Linktel Technologies has officially opened its RM200 million Plant 2 in conjunction with its 14th Anniversary Celebration in Penang, marking a major milestone in the company’s regional growth.
The new facility will produce high-speed optical transceivers — including 1.6T, 800G, 400G, and 100G models — essential for AI computing, high-performance computing (HPC), and data centres. Fully equipped with proprietary Industry 4.0 automation, the plant enhances efficiency while reinforcing Malaysia’s role in global technology manufacturing.
Officiated by YB Tuan H’ng Mooi Lye, Penang State EXCO for Local Government and Town & Country Planning, alongside representatives from MIDA and NCIA, the expansion was hailed as a strong vote of confidence in Penang’s robust industrial ecosystem.
With over 1,500 skilled jobs created since 2021 and plans already underway for Plant 3, Linktel’s total investment in Malaysia now stands at RM820 million, underscoring its long-term commitment to innovation, production, and talent development in Malaysia’s rapidly advancing manufacturing landscape.
