PETALING JAYA, October 29 — Penang Amanah Youth communications director Abrar Sadiq has ridiculed Perikatan Nasional (PN) for retaining Gerakan president Dominic Lau as the coalition’s Penang chairman, calling it a sign of “aimless leadership” in the state.
He said the decision showed that the voices of PAS and Bersatu grassroots had been sidelined by the coalition’s top leadership. Abrar added that reappointing a leader from a party with no seats in Penang demonstrated PN’s weakening position and lack of capable figures to challenge the ruling state government.
Lau’s leadership has faced repeated criticism from PAS members, including being barred from a campaign event in 2023 and accused of ineffectiveness at the party’s recent muktamar. Despite this, PN’s latest reshuffle saw Lau retained as Penang PN chairman.
