KUALA LUMPUR, November 3 — Malaysian rapper Namewee has denied allegations of drug use and possession following the death of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh, known to fans as the “Nurse Goddess.”

In an Instagram statement, Namewee — whose real name is Wee Meng Chee — said he was confident the truth would surface within two to three months once the police investigation concludes. “I did not take drugs, nor did I possess any.

At most, I’ve just been drinking a little more lately,” he said, adding that he had refrained from responding earlier due to the ongoing probe. Wee’s remarks came after reports from Sin Chew Daily claimed he was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court on October 24 for drug use and possession after testing positive for four substances, including amphetamines and ketamine.

Police confirmed he was arrested on October 22 and later released on bail. Namewee expressed condolences over Hsieh’s death, which occurred on October 30 in Malaysia, saying the tragedy was worsened by a delayed emergency response.

“The ambulance took nearly an hour to arrive — I honestly don’t know what the point of calling 999 is anymore,” he wrote. The rapper also alleged that he and his team had been subjected to blackmail in recent days but vowed to face the situation head-on.

“Those who believe me will continue to do so, and those who don’t, won’t,” he said. The case remains under police investigation, with a court mention scheduled for December 18.
