KUALA LUMPUR, November 3 — Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has publicly accepted criticism and apologised over his remarks towards an Utusan Malaysia journalist during the recent “I Lite U” pre-launch press conference.
In a Facebook post, Nga said he acknowledged that “there may have been an error” and accepted it “with an open heart,” adding that he has always respected media freedom and never intended to offend anyone.
Nga confirmed he is ready to meet with the media representatives involved to resolve the matter amicably. He reiterated his appreciation for journalists as the “backbone” of the government’s information network and emphasised his commitment to building an inclusive, progressive Malaysia.
His apology follows public backlash from media groups and political figures, including the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), who criticised his earlier statement as an attempt to intimidate the press.
