KUALA LUMPUR, November 4 — Police have reclassified the death of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, better known as Iris Hsieh or “Nurse Goddess,” as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, after she was found dead in a bathtub at a luxury hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 22.
Kuala Lumpur police chief CP Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed that the case, initially treated as a sudden death, was upgraded following further investigations, with police continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding her death.
Malaysian rapper Namewee, who was with Hsieh on the night of her death, has denied any involvement, saying he has not used or possessed drugs and calling recent reports “unsubstantiated.” Police said Namewee tested positive for several controlled substances.
And has been charged with drug use and possession, with his next court hearing set for Dec 18. The case, which has drawn widespread attention in both Malaysia and Taiwan, remains under active investigation as forensic teams work to determine Hsieh’s exact cause of death.
