GEORGE TOWN, November 6 — The Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) has lauded several consumer-friendly measures under Budget 2026, including the long-awaited Lemon Law, the proposed Anti-Bullying Bill, and key allocations for food security and environmental protection.
CAP President Mohideen Abdul Kader said the introduction of the Lemon Law will empower consumers with stronger legal recourse against defective products, while the Anti-Bullying Bill and enhanced student discipline regulations are vital amid a sharp rise in school bullying cases.
He also welcomed the RM1.6 billion Food Security Fund, RM300 million river rehabilitation initiative, and tax incentives for converting commercial buildings into housing, calling Budget 2026 a well-rounded plan addressing consumer rights, sustainability, and urban renewal—but stressed that its success depends on effective implementation and enforcement.
