KUALA LANGAT, November 7 — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has officially begun using body-worn cameras (BWC) for its enforcement officers nationwide to enhance safety, transparency, and accountability during operations.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said 100 units have been distributed, with priority given to Putrajaya and high-risk operations across states.
He also announced that the government has approved the purchase of 60 additional firearms to supplement the department’s existing 434 units, recognising the high-risk nature of JPJ’s field duties.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed RM2.3 million was allocated for the first phase of the BWC rollout, aimed at strengthening integrity and protecting officers from false allegations.
