BUTTERWORTH, November 10 — The Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) Seberang Perai, located within the Penang Sentral Transport Hub, is now fully operational and was officially launched today by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The new facility is set to benefit over one million residents across Seberang Jaya, Penaga, Prai, Bukit Mertajam, and neighbouring areas in southern Kedah and northern Perak. This marks the 24th UTC nationwide and the second in Penang, following its announcement during the 2025 Budget presentation as part of the government’s initiative to enhance accessibility to public services.

Strategically located at an integrated transport hub connecting KTM, bus, ferry, and taxi services, UTC Seberang Perai strengthens Butterworth’s position as a key socioeconomic gateway within the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER). Operating daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m..

The centre houses essential agencies including the National Registration Department (JPN), Immigration Department (JIM), Road Transport Department (JPJ), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), and both public health and dental clinics.

It also features an integrated Queue Management System (QMS), open-concept workspaces, and modern amenities designed for greater efficiency and comfort. Among the added-value facilities are the Kiosk Sentuhan MADANI (KSM) — the fourth in Malaysia and the first outside the Klang Valley.

Along with a Cash Aid Information Hub that manages assistance programmes such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), Budi MADANI RON95 (BUDI95), and other welfare aid under the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

The centre also includes a Public–Private Career Hubestablished through collaboration between the Public Service Commission (SPA) and MyFutureJobs, providing job information and career counselling for local jobseekers. Local residents have welcomed the centre’s launch, praising its convenience and strategic location.

“Previously, I had to travel to Sungai Petani or KOMTAR for passport renewal. Now with UTC Seberang Perai at Penang Sentral, everything is much easier,” said visitor. With diverse amenities, scenic surroundings, and easy transport access.

UTC Seberang Perai stands as a modern benchmark for public service delivery — reflecting the Malaysia MADANI aspiration of bringing efficient, people-centric government services closer to the community.
