KOTA KINABALU, November 10 — Deputy Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has launched the coalition’s campaign slogan, “Bikin Balik Sabah” (Rebuild Sabah), as BN gears up for the 17th Sabah State Election.
The slogan, he said, represents BN’s mission to revive Sabah’s economy, create job opportunities, attract investments, and empower local communities, particularly youth, women, and rural entrepreneurs. Speaking at the launch of BN’s election machinery, Zahid emphasised that the slogan symbolises a commitment to rebuild Sabah for Sabahans.
“We want to be the game changer in this election — reigniting the state’s economy and ensuring that development truly benefits the people, not cronies,” he said. He also stressed that political stability, integrity, and unity were key to ensuring a progressive and prosperous Sabah.
At the same event, Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin unveiled BN’s slate of 41 candidates, featuring about 80 per cent new faces. Bung will defend his Lamag seat, while Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak will contest in Tempasuk and Usukan, respectively.
The candidate list includes professionals, technocrats, and medical doctors — signalling BN’s intent to introduce capable new leaders. Zahid assured voters that BN will not field any Peninsular candidates, reaffirming its commitment to local representation.
He added that key issues such as clean water, electricity supply, and poverty eradication will be prioritised if BN regains power. “The people of Sabah miss Barisan Nasional,” Zahid said. “It is our duty to serve them better and rebuild Sabah together.”
