GEORGE TOWN, November 12 — Penang has once again proven its culinary prowess with 74 eateries making it into The Michelin Guide Kuala Lumpur & Penang 2026, representing nearly half of all 151 listed establishments.
Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy, Wong Hon Wai, praised the achievement, highlighting two Michelin Star restaurants, 33 Bib Gourmand, and 39 Michelin Selected entries.
Among the 16 new entrants this year, Penang proudly contributed 3 new Bib Gourmand and 5 new Michelin Selected restaurants, underscoring the state’s vibrant food scene and its enduring reputation as Malaysia’s “Food Paradise.

” The newly listed Michelin Selected restaurants — Blacklinen, Du-An (Lebuh Pantai), Mémoire, Peninsula House, and Sood by Chef Ton — showcase Penang’s blend of tradition and innovation. Wong Hon Wai noted that Au Jardin and Auntie Gaik Lean’s Old School Eatery retained their Michelin Stars, demonstrating consistent excellence.
He emphasized that Penang’s growing recognition in the Michelin Guide not only elevates its global culinary status but also boosts tourism and inspires local restaurateurs to uphold the highest standards in gastronomy, service, and creativity.
