GEORGE TOWN, November 14 – Penang DAP has firmly reiterated that the Federal Constitution clearly defines Penang and Kedah as two separate states within Malaysia, emphasizing the party’s commitment to defending Penang’s constitutional status and sovereignty against any challenges.
In a statement issued on 13 November 2025, DAP Penang Chair Steven Sim Chee Keong urged the Kedah Chief Minister to focus on developing his own state and caring for its citizens, rather than engaging in continuous political disputes.
Sim also called on PAS Penang and its allies in the Penang National Alliance to clarify their stance to the public, questioning whether they would betray Penang by agreeing to PAS Kedah’s claims over the state.
He stressed that the people have the right to know the true position of their representatives regarding Penang’s sovereignty. The statement underscores Penang DAP’s firm commitment to upholding the Federal Constitution while defending the rights and welfare of Penang’s citizens.
Asserting that any attempts to question the state’s status are unacceptable and politically misguided.
