KUALA LUMPUR, November 19 – The Ministry of Works (KKR) has yet to receive any formal proposal from Genting Malaysia Bhd regarding toll collection or entry charges for its privately owned areas, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Speaking after the Board of Architects Malaysia Townhall 2.0 event, he noted that while Genting has confirmed plans to impose charges on vehicles entering Genting Highlands, no official application has been submitted, and the term “entry charge” is preferred over “toll” to avoid public confusion.

Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan previously highlighted that any charges should fairly apply only to leisure visitors and not all road users. Nanta echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for clarity and fairness in the proposed system, while noting that the implementation date and details remain pending until Genting submits a formal proposal for government review.
