GEORGE TOWN, November 22 — Penang is poised to record a budget surplus this year, with Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announcing that state revenue has already reached RM924.1 million as of November 18.
Surpassing the full-year 2025 target and putting the state on track to exceed RM1 billion in annual revenue for the first time since 2016.
Chow, speaking at the state legislative assembly, attributed the stronger-than-expected performance to improved revenue collection, disciplined expenditure management and consistent fiscal planning, which have enabled Penang to table a significantly reduced deficit of RM19.91 million
