GEORGE TOWN, November 23 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a series of heavy rain alerts across several states, warning of continuous downpours expected to persist until 26 November 2025.

Under the Severe Weather Warning (Danger) category, extremely heavy and continuous rainfall is forecast in Kedah (Kulim, Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang dan Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak).

And Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Bachok, Pasir Puteh) through Tuesday, 25 November, posing heightened risks of flash floods, river overflows, and landslides. Meanwhile, the Severe Weather Warning (Bad) level has been issued for Perlis, several districts in Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Selangor (Sabak Bernam), where prolonged heavy rainfall is expected until 25 November.

A further Weather Alert (Caution) warns of continuous rain in parts of Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh) and Selangor (Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak) until 24 November, as well as Kelantan (Gua Musang) and Terengganu (Kemaman) until 26 November.

Authorities urge residents in affected areas to remain vigilant, follow official updates, and be prepared to evacuate if necessary. The prolonged monsoon downpour may disrupt transportation, increase flood risks, and impact daily activities. The advisory was issued at 4:15pm on 23 November 2025.
