KOTA BELUD, November 28 — Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin threw his support behind Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Tempasuk candidate Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari during a community dialogue in Kampung Keguraan today, praising the incumbent’s integrity and dedication while stressing that his visit was rooted in long-standing friendship rather than party affiliation.
Khairy, who was sacked from Umno in 2023, lauded Mohd Arsad’s decision to leave business for public service and said the young leader had “a bright future” backed by GRS, PBS and local veterans, urging voters to renew his mandate.
Despite reports that Umno’s top leadership has approved his return, Khairy’s active campaigning for GRS and PH-aligned candidates Yamani Hafez Musa and Jamawi Jaafar underscores his continued influence in Sabah politics, even as speculation swirls over whether he will rejoin Umno ahead of the state polls.
