Checking in on 22 November 2025 for Pocket News’ official hotel review, we had the opportunity to explore the property’s accommodations, dining venues, wellness offerings and festive highlights firsthand. From its refined hospitality to its thoughtful design that beautifully blends modernity with Peranakan heritage, the Iconic Marjorie is setting a compelling new standard for luxury stays on the island.

A Warm Welcome & Elegant Junior Suite — 3.00 PM

Arriving at the lobby at 3pm, we was greeted with warm, seamless hospitality—an early indication of the service excellence the hotel prides itself on. Check-in was smooth, and I was swiftly escorted to the Junior Suite, an expansive space defined by its meticulous attention to detail.

The room exuded understated luxury, featuring a harmonious mix of contemporary aesthetics and subtle Peranakan motifs that paid homage to Penang’s cultural identity. Thoughtfully designed with plush bedding, modern lighting, and a well-curated layout, the suite offered a peaceful sanctuary perfect for both relaxation and productivity.

Guests can also enjoy the hotel’s Pillow Menu, selecting their preferred pillow type for a truly personalized and comfortable sleep experience—a thoughtful amenity that reviewers have praised. Large windows filled the room with natural light.

While the generous living area and elegant bathroom added to the comfort and sense of indulgence. For added convenience, 24-hour room service ensures that midnight cravings or any other needs are catered to promptly, further enhancing the effortless luxury and guest-focused experience.

A Journey of Rejuvenation at WellNest Spa — 4.00 PM

At 4:00 PM, we visited WellNest Spa for a 90-minute Bamboo and Peranakan Rolling Therapy, an exclusive treatment that expertly combines traditional wellness practices with deep-tissue massage techniques. The therapist skillfully used rhythmic rolling motions and bamboo tools to release muscle tension, improve circulation, and restore physical balance, leaving the body feeling fully rejuvenated.

The spa itself was a serene sanctuary, with calming colours, warm ambient lighting, and gentle aromatherapy blending seamlessly to create a tranquil atmosphere ideal for relaxation. WellNest Spa operates from 1:00 PM to 12:00 midnight, with the last call at 11:00 PM and offers a variety of treatments including,

A Magical Festive Evening — Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7.00 PM

By 7pm, the Iconic Marjorie Hotel lobby transformed into a festive wonderland as guests gathered for the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. The towering tree, adorned with sparkling ornaments and warm lights, became the centerpiece of the evening, accompanied by soft carols and a welcoming address from the hotel’s leadership.

The ceremony also highlighted the hotel’s meaningful charity initiative, “A Hug of Hope,” featuring the adorable Pico the Penguin plushies, with proceeds supporting local children’s homes. Following the ceremony, guests were treated to an exclusive preview of the hotel’s Christmas and New Year buffets at Tiffin Hall, elegantly decorated for the season.

The spread showcased festive favourites with both local and international flavours, including the Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner on December 24 (RM238+ per adult) and the Christmas Day Buffet Lunch on December 25 (from RM188+ per adult).

Guests can also look forward to the indulgent New Year’s Eve Buffet Dinner on December 31, with optional free-flow wine and beer packages. With warm hospitality, festive delights, and the heartfelt giving embodied by the penguin plushie campaign, Iconic Marjorie Hotel promises a memorable holiday experience.

Festive Feast at Tiffin Hall — Christmas Buffet Preview

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to Tiffin Hall for an exclusive preview of the Christmas and New Year buffet offerings. The spread was impressive, featuring a curated selection of festive classics, international favourites, and Penang-inspired dishes. From traditional roasts and hearty soups to locally infused delicacies and elaborate desserts, every dish was crafted with precision and creativity.

The culinary team demonstrated strong attention to detail, ensuring flavours were balanced, presentations were polished, and the dining experience was both festive and refined. It was a standout showcase that sets the tone for the hotel’s upcoming year-end dining events.

Nightcap at Senses Bar — 9.30 PM

At 9:30 PM, the evening continued at Senses Bar, the hotel’s chic 13th-floor lounge adjacent to the infinity pool, where we sampled both a signature cocktail and a refreshing mocktail. Each drink showcased thoughtful mixology with sophisticated flavor profiles, perfectly complementing the bar’s refined yet relaxed ambience.

Soft lighting, comfortable seating, curated music, and panoramic city views created an inviting atmosphere ideal for unwinding after a full day of activities. Senses Bar features a fresh, coastal-inspired décor in white and Tiffany-blue tones and offers an extensive selection of cocktails, wines, spirits, and light snacks.

Guests can also enjoy the infinity pool and jacuzzi, while live music performances every Friday and DJ sets on Saturday nights add a lively touch to weekend evenings. Open to the public, the bar operates from 4 PM to 12 AM Sunday–Thursday and 4 PM to 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, providing both hotel guests and visitors with a stylish retreat overlooking Penang’s skyline.

Late-Night Relaxation – 11.00 PM

After an eventful evening, we returned to our Junior Suite at Iconic Marjorie Penang around 11pm and indulged in the suite’s spacious bathtub. With warm water, premium bath amenities, and a serene ambience, the long bath provided a perfect way to unwind after a full day of activities.

Adding to the sense of indulgence, the suite featured “Jo Love” amenities, including premium in-room snacks as well as coffee and tea-making facilities—exclusively available for guests staying in the Junior and Executive Suites.

These thoughtful touches enhanced the luxury experience, allowing for a moment of quiet enjoyment in the comfort of the room. The suite’s elegant Peranakan-inspired décor and plush furnishings further elevated the sense of sophistication and relaxation, creating a tranquil retreat.

By the time we finally settled in for the night at 1am, we felt completely rejuvenated—both physically and mentally—a testament to the hotel’s meticulous attention to guest comfort and refined hospitality.

A Refined Start to the Day at Tiffin Hall — 8.00 AM

The next morning, around 8am, breakfast at Tiffin Hall offered a vibrant and inviting start to the day. The buffet featured a well-rounded selection of Western, Asian and Japanese favorites, including freshly baked pastries, artisanal breads, hearty eggs, nasi lemak and noodle dishes. Every dish was freshly prepared and attractively presented, highlighting the culinary team’s dedication to quality.

The attentive staff at Tiffin Hall ensured that guests were well cared for throughout the meal. Tables were promptly cleared, beverages refilled and any requests accommodated with a gracious smile. The spacious layout and elegant décor, combined with natural lighting, created a lively yet relaxed atmosphere—perfect for both leisurely breakfasts and family gatherings.

After breakfast, we returned to the room for a brief moment of relaxation—catching up on TV and enjoying the suite’s comfort—before checking out at 11.30am. With that, our staycation and official hotel review concluded, leaving us with lasting impressions of a property that harmoniously blends luxury, heritage, and heartfelt hospitality.

The shuttle to Bayan Lepas operates Monday to Friday at 8:00 AM, while hourly services to Queensbay Mall and Queens Waterfront run daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Daily departures to Georgetown (Chew Jetty) are available at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Seats are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with prior registration required at the Concierge Counter (Level 1) at least one hour before departure, as noted on the hotel’s official Instagram and Facebook pages.

A future LRT station has been planned just 200 metres from the Iconic Marjorie Hotel, offering guests and visitors enhanced convenience and seamless connectivity.
