GEORGE TOWN, December 3 – Intel Corporation CEO Tan Lip-Bu met with Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today at Komtar, reaffirming Intel’s long-standing commitment to Penang’s semiconductor growth.
The Chief Minister expressed deep appreciation for Intel’s 50-year presence in the state, noting its pivotal role in developing Penang’s talent pipeline, strengthening supply chain resilience, and establishing Malaysia as a globally competitive semiconductor hub.
During the meeting, InvestPenang outlined new areas of strategic collaboration as the state advances into critical sectors such as next-generation technologies and advanced packaging. Intel voiced full support for Penang’s direction and reiterated its commitment to championing the National Semiconductor Strategy.
The company also reported that its RM12 billion Advanced Packaging Plant in Penang is now 99% complete, a milestone made possible through strong support from the Penang state government and relevant agencies.
