KOTA KINABALU, December 5 – Sabah Umno chief and six-term Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has died at the age of 66 following severe lung infection and kidney failure, passing away at 1.46am today at Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu.
His death comes less than a week after retaining the Lamag seat in the recent state polls. Known as one of Malaysia’s most outspoken and controversial political figures, Bung’s career spanned over two decades under six prime ministers, marked by both headline-grabbing remarks and steadfast grassroots support.
Despite facing ongoing corruption charges and past controversies—including his infamous “long live Hitler” comment—he maintained strong loyalty in Kinabatangan and Lamag, where he was remembered as a generous, approachable leader who frequently assisted rural communities.
His passing leaves a significant void in Sabah’s political landscape.
