KUALA LUMPUR, December 12 – The Butterworth Deep-Water Wharf (BDWW) posted exceptional export growth in the third quarter of 2025, with Penang Port Commission Chairman Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin reporting a dramatic rise in Free Commercial Zone cargo volume.

From 4.93 million tonnes in 2024 to 20.40 million tonnes in 2025 — a 313.54% jump — while exports skyrocketed 1181.59% to 2.59 million tonnes, driven by heightened export activity, increased domestic demand, and expanded value-added services across key sectors.

Ultimately boosting job creation, strengthening SMEs, and reinforcing Penang’s position as a key regional trade hub as the commission advances modernization efforts to enhance long-term efficiency and competitiveness.
