MELAKA, December 19 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has allocated RM310 million to roll out state-wide connectivity infrastructure under the Melaka Smart City initiative, aimed at transforming the heritage state into a sustainable and resilient digital city under the Smart Melaka 2035 blueprint.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the funding will support initiatives such as fibre-optic networks, smart poles, public Wi-Fi, improved public safety and traffic management via the Melaka Network Operation and Command Centre.
Smart heritage tourism solutions, and flood management using early warning systems and IoT sensors, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between MCMC and the Melaka state government, with the first phase of implementation expected to begin within the first six months of next year.
