KUALA LUMPUR, December 20 — The prosecution has completed the chemist report in the drug use case involving Malaysian rapper and filmmaker Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, his lawyer Joshua Tay confirmed today.
Tay said the deputy public prosecutor informed the Magistrate’s Court that the report was ready during a case mention earlier, although the defence has yet to receive a copy and the results remain unknown.
Namewee, 42, is facing two separate charges stemming from October 24, involving alleged self-administration of multiple drugs and possession of 5.12g of ecstasy, with separate chemist reports required for each case.
The drug use case has been fixed for mention on December 22, while the possession case will be mentioned on January 19, following earlier adjournments after Namewee was diagnosed with Influenza A and granted bail of RM4,000.
