GEORGE TOWN, December 20 — Penang will double its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programmes in 2026 to strengthen early exposure and cultivate a skilled future workforce.
Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo announced, following meetings with key stakeholders such as Tech Dome Penang and the Penang Science Cluster. With 110 programmes reaching 236,000 students in 2025.
The state aims to significantly scale up efforts next year to meet the talent demands of over 500 multinational companies and 7,000 SMEs in its thriving technology sector, while also seeking federal funding under the 13th Malaysia Plan to support the expansion.
