KUALA LUMPUR, December 22 — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is set to learn today whether he will be allowed to serve the remainder of his reduced six-year jail term under house arrest or remain at Kajang Prison, as the High Court delivers its decision on his application.

Najib, convicted in the SRC International case, is seeking enforcement of an alleged addendum order by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for house arrest following a January 2024 Pardons Board decision that halved his sentence and fine, with the court now tasked to determine whether such an order is valid and enforceable.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he continues to pray for Najib to be granted a royal pardon, stressing that the decision rests solely with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and should not be pressured.

Zahid’s remarks come as Najib also awaits the outcome of another major legal proceeding later this week, when the High Court is expected to rule on charges linked to the 1MDB trial.
