KUALA LUMPUR, December 22 — Sunway Square Mall has revised its pet policy with immediate effect, banning pets from enclosed indoor areas after Selangor authorities reaffirmed that animals are not permitted in shopping centres across the state.
The mall said the decision followed confirmation by Selangor Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim that the existing ban remains in force, adding that the move aims to ensure a safe, hygienic and comfortable environment for all visitors.
In a statement today, the mall said pets are now only allowed at its designated outdoor pet-friendly area, Squarrel’s Playground at Sunway South Quay Lake, and may accompany owners only when transiting between car parks and the outdoor zone under security supervision.
Ng said the state government would review existing guidelines to preserve community harmony, noting that Selangor must carefully consider international practices within its multiracial society.
