GEORGE TOWN, December 30 — Penang is set to usher in 2026 with a vibrant line-up of New Year’s Eve countdown celebrations across the island and Seberang Perai, offering something for everyone. From waterfront fireworks and live concerts to festive markets and rooftop parties, malls, hotels, organisations and community hotspots will light up the night with music, performances and celebratory cheer.
On Penang Island, highlights include Straits Quay in Tanjung Tokong from 7.30pm with live bands, DJs and waterfront fireworks; Gurney Walk’s alfresco countdown from 9pm featuring live performances and interactive games; and Gurney Paragon Mall’s open-air party at Festive Square from 7pm.
Visitors can also enjoy festive shopping at the Greentopia New Year Eve Market at Gurney Plaza Outdoor from December 27 to January 4, while Queens Waterfront Q2 in Bayan Lepas hosts Christmas and New Year celebrations daily from December 24 to 31.
Meanwhile, Seberang Perai will come alive with major celebrations at Auto-City Juru from 8pm with fireworks and special guest performances, and at PICCA Convention Centre in Butterworth, featuring a multi-day celebration from December 30 to January 1 with live music, DJs, a mega food market and a 10-minute fireworks showcase.
Ticketed experiences include The TOP Penang at Level 68, offering DJ sets and fireworks views from above, and the Hard Rock Hotel Penang’s poolside New Year’s Eve party, ensuring Penangites and visitors alike can count down to 2026 in style.
