ALOR SETAR, January 2 — The Kedah state government is aiming to attract more than seven million tourists in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), building on strong visitor numbers recorded last year.
State Agriculture, Plantation and Transport Committee chairman Dzowahir Ab Ghani said the target reflects Kedah’s growing appeal, with a wide range of attractions across Langkawi and the mainland showcasing the state’s natural beauty, culture and rural charm.
He said the state would continue improving tourism infrastructure and working closely with the federal government, while also promoting Kedah as a “slow tourism” destination offering peaceful village experiences sought by both local and international visitors.
Earlier today, Dzowahir welcomed arriving passengers at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport with traditional performances, VM2026 mascots Wira and Manja, and souvenir gifts to mark the launch of the campaign.
