IPOH, January 5 — The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has increased its allocation for road repaving works in Perak to RM40 million, with about 800 residential roads set to be completed before Hari Raya Aidilfitri on March 20.
Minister Nga Kor Ming said an additional RM20 million will be channelled to local authorities statewide, including RM5 million for the Manjung Municipal Council, RM3.08 million for the Teluk Intan Municipal Council and RM3.1 million for the Taiping Municipal Council, with the remainder distributed among district councils and other local authorities.
He said the special allocation, made possible through cost-saving measures by the Local Government Department, would benefit nearly all local authorities in Perak. Nga added that the repaving of roads in Bandar Baru Medan Ipoh, awaited by residents for over 25 years.
Bas been fully completed at a cost of nearly RM1.9 million, and noted that during his visit he also presented a RM116,760 donation to St. Michael’s And All Angels Church Ipoh under the Non-Muslim House of Worship Initiative.
