A critical user interface deadlock affecting the Nikon Zf camera has been identified following the release of firmware version C 3.00, with the issue confirmed by Nikon support in Japan. Under specific settings involving reassignment of the DISP button and certain monitor and finder priority modes.
The camera can become stuck in the i-menu when the rear LCD is opened, preventing live view from displaying and leaving users unable to exit the menu through normal controls; only rotating the LCD to 180-degree selfie mode temporarily bypasses the lock.
The bug, described as a “display pipeline deadlock,” leaves restoring DISP functionality or initializing the camera as the only recovery options, prompting concern among users even as the update introduces new features such as film grain effects, improved focus peaking, enhanced grid compositions and streamlined video controls.
