SHAH ALAM, January 13 — Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has called on the public to give the Education Ministry time to complete its comprehensive study on the possible revival of the UPSR and PT3 examinations, stressing that any decision or explanation will only be made after findings are presented to the Cabinet.
She said the ministry is consulting key stakeholders, including the National Education Advisory Council (MPPK), while carefully examining parents’ concerns alongside the current school-based assessment framework, which replaced UPSR and PT3 in 2021 and 2022 to support more holistic student evaluation.
Separately, as the 2026 school year begins, the ministry is also strengthening student welfare through initiatives such as the “kawan jaga kawan” peer support programme to curb bullying, alongside multi-agency cooperation and the recently approved Anti-Bullying Act 2026, aimed at ensuring schools remain safe and supportive learning environments.
