KUALA LUMPUR, January 26 — The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) is reinforcing an outcome-driven investment focus in 2026, calling for stronger collaboration with the media to bridge perception gaps surrounding domestic investment support, particularly among local SMEs.

Speaking at MIDA’s Media Appreciation High-Tea & Networking Session, Chairman YM Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz and CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim stressed that the priority for the year ahead is converting approved investments into real projects, quality jobs and stronger local supply chains, noting that domestic investors accounted for 55 per cent of approved investments in the first nine months of 2025.

To support this shift, MIDA outlined initiatives including the expansion of the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre, a new outcome-based incentive framework, the #InvestLokal campaign, regional flagship programmes, an Investment Coordination Platform and a forthcoming One-Stop Portal.

While urging the media to highlight local business success stories to ensure Malaysia’s 2026 investment narrative is inclusive, people-centric and grounded in tangible economic impact.
