KUALA LUMPUR, January 14 — Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has rejected allegations that his party betrayed PAS during the recent political turmoil in Perlis that led to the resignation of Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

He said Bersatu was not involved in the decision, stressing that the outcome was made by the Raja of Perlis and must be respected, adding that neither he nor the party’s leadership had played any role in undermining PAS.

Speaking after chairing a Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council meeting in Petaling Jaya last night, Muhyiddin said Perlis leaders had briefed him that Bersatu was not part of the crisis and denied claims of sabotage.

The crisis followed reports that eight state assemblymen — three from PAS and five from Bersatu — withdrew support for Mohd Shukri, prompting accusations of betrayal from PAS leaders and heightening tensions within the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
