SHAH ALAM, January 14 — The Selangor government will prioritise strict Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Social Impact Assessment (SIA) requirements in relocating pig farming operations to Bukit Tagar, Hulu Selangor, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said.
He said any permanent site must have a self-contained sewerage system to prevent river pollution, in line with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s decree to phase out pig farming in Tanjong Sepat, with 69 active operators identified for relocation and a move towards modern, regulated farming to curb environmental damage.
In a separate development, Amirudin clarified that the Sultan’s decree on glamping activities in Hulu Langat only targets operations with deviant themes that contradict societal values, not family-friendly tourism.
He said enforcement agencies, including the police and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), will monitor and take firm action against any violations to ensure activities remain appropriate.
