GEORGE TOWN, January 18 — Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming today announced a RM3 million allocation to develop six Madani recreational parks in Penang, with RM500,000 allocated for each park.
Three parks will be built on the island under the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), while the remaining three will be located in Seberang Jaya, Jawi and Permatang Pauh, as part of the ministry’s nationwide “one thousand gardens” initiative.
Nga said the project reflects the ministry’s commitment to expanding green public spaces, noting that 216 Madani parks have been completed nationwide within the past 24 months. He also revealed that MBPP will be nominated to represent Malaysia.
At the Dubai International Best Practices Award for Sustainable Development 2026, following its recognition as the first local authority to receive ESG certification from SIRIM QAS International.
