KUALA LUMPUR, January 21 — The MADANI government today began disbursing Phase 1 payments of the 2026 Rahmah Cash Aid (STR), benefiting about five million recipients nationwide, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.
The payouts cover 3.7 million households and 1.3 million elderly individuals without spouses, with assistance ranging between RM100 and RM500 based on eligibility, as part of efforts to ease the cost-of-living burden.
In a review of the programme’s impact, Anwar said recent improvements, including the integration of STR with the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) scheme, will provide more consistent and targeted support for basic necessities.
He added that while STR offers quarterly relief during peak spending periods such as festive seasons, SARA delivers steady monthly assistance, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring no Malaysian is left behind and that all citizens can live with dignity.
