BUKIT MERTAJAM, January 25 — Malaysia must chart a clear path towards a high-value, technology-driven economy to break free from the middle-income trap, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.
He noted that while the country’s economic fundamentals are strengthening, sustained progress depends on the comprehensive implementation of digital transformation policies and the adoption of smart technologies across all levels of governance, including local authorities.
Speaking at the launch of the Seberang Perai Aspire Centre and Community Outreach Programme at the Seberang Perai City Council complex, Anwar said Malaysia must learn from other nations that have stagnated after initial growth.
He added that policies under the Industrial Master Plan and national digital transformation agenda are designed to ensure continued momentum, positioning the country for long-term, high-value economic advancement.
