BUTTERWORTH, January 25 — The RM371 million new building at Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ) marks the Madani Government’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare in Seberang Perai and Penang.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the nine-storey facility, operational since May last year, adds 316 beds and modern specialist facilities, reinforcing HSJ’s role as a major referral hospital and bringing specialist care closer to the community.

He added that the upgrade improves patient flow and staff working conditions, while reducing the need for patients to travel to Penang Hospital.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated the launch today, alongside announcements of continued investments in Penang’s healthcare infrastructure under Budget 2026 and the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan.
