Apple has announced a new generation of AirTag, introducing expanded connectivity range, more powerful Precision Finding and a significantly louder built-in speaker to make locating misplaced items easier than ever.

Powered by Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip — also used in the iPhone 17 lineup and latest Apple Watches — the new AirTag allows users to find items from up to 50 per cent farther away.

With improved Bluetooth range and sound that is 50 per cent louder and audible from up to twice the distance, while retaining IP67 water and dust resistance. The updated AirTag continues to work with Apple’s Find My network and now supports Precision Finding on Apple Watch Series 9 and later, enabling users to track items directly from their wrist.

It also integrates with Share Item Location. Allowing temporary and secure sharing of an item’s location with trusted third parties such as airlines — a feature Apple says has helped reduce baggage delays and unrecoverable luggage globally. Designed exclusively for tracking objects.

The AirTag includes industry-leading privacy and anti-stalking protections, with end-to-end encrypted location data. In Malaysia, the second-generation AirTag is priced at RM129 for a single unit and RM429 for a four-pack.

With free personalised engraving available via Apple’s online store and app, though local availability has yet to be confirmed. The new AirTag maintains compatibility with existing accessories, including the FineWoven Key Ring.

And continues Apple’s environmental push with extensive use of recycled materials, while offering the same user-replaceable CR2032 battery with over a year of battery life.
