KUALA LUMPUR, January 30 — Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that amendments to the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) are expected to be tabled during the second Parliament meeting of the year, starting June 22.

The amendments, currently in the final stage of review, involve consultations between the Home Ministry, Attorney General’s Chambers, and the Royal Malaysia Police, and aim to better balance national security with human rights protections.

Before being tabled, the draft must receive Cabinet approval, and once passed by Parliament, it will require royal assent before coming into effect.
