PUTRAJAYA, January 30 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke has called for an end to traditional physical roadblocks by the Road Transport Department (JPJ), citing their inefficiency and tendency to cause traffic congestion, particularly on highways.

Speaking at a press conference, Loke urged JPJ to adopt digital enforcement using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology integrated with the MySIKAP database, enabling instant checks on road tax, insurance status, and stolen or cloned vehicles without stopping traffic.

He also emphasised that transport systems should be simple and intuitive for the public, leveraging real-time data and AI to enhance efficiency, anticipate delays, and improve overall road safety.
