KUALA TERENGGANU, January 31 — Terengganu has taken a significant step in advancing competitive downhill mountain biking with the unveiling of a new circuit at Bukit Panorama, a centrally located hill standing 85 metres above sea level that has been designed to meet Class 2 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) standards.
Offering riders a technically demanding course despite its modest height, with paved road access to the summit enhancing logistics for training and events; Terengganu Cycling Association vice president M. Rezal Abu Bakar said the first phase features two purpose-built tracks catering to different skill levels and emphasised that the challenge lies in tactical riding and obstacle navigation.
As the state plans to develop at least one downhill circuit in every district to strengthen grassroots participation, complementing the existing UCI-recognised mountain biking facility at Bukit Chatak, Dungun.
