JOHOR BAHRU, February 3 — Johor police have launched an investigation following the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing an e-hailing driver sexually harassing a young female passenger in Johor Bahru, sparking widespread public outrage online.
The 20-second clip, which surfaced on social media yesterday, appears to show the male driver attempting to touch the woman seated in the back while asking her age in Mandarin, prompting many netizens to call for immediate police action and urge the victim to lodge a report.
Johor Bahru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat confirmed that authorities are aware of the video and are investigating the incident from all angles, including identifying those involved and calling potential witnesses.
He added that no police report has been lodged so far, and urged anyone with relevant information to contact the Johor Bahru South district police headquarters hotline at 07-218 2323 to assist with the investigation.
