KUALA LUMPUR, February 5 — Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has cautioned insurance companies, takaful providers, and third-party administrators (TPAs) against influencing clinical decisions in private hospitals.
Stressing that any such intervention would violate the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998. Speaking in Parliament, he highlighted the ministry’s commitment to safeguarding doctors’ professional autonomy.
And noted that issues are addressed through the Grievance Mechanism Committee (GMC), which brings together stakeholders including Bank Negara Malaysia, medical associations, private hospitals, and insurers to ensure patients’ care remains guided solely by medical expertise.
