JOHOR BAHRU, February 5 — The Johor state government has requested the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) to conduct cloud seeding to raise humidity and support firefighting efforts as peatland fires persist after more than 25 days of dry weather.
Affecting areas including Bakri Batu 13 and 14 in Muar, Bio-Desaru in Kota Tinggi, and Sungai Linau in Kluang. Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said over 300 personnel from various agencies are continuously battling the fires, which have forced evacuations.
While water levels remain sufficient, Air Pollutant Index readings are under control, and residents are urged to avoid outdoor activities and report any signs of fire to protect public health and the environment.
